Netflix Gamercard

This was a project for my Flash coding class. The idea was to think of something that you could create with flash coding that people might want.

My idea was a Netflix gamercard. A gamercard is an image that automatically updates based on what games you’re playing and what achievements/trophies you’ve gained recently. People usually put them in their signature on message boards to show other people what they’re playing, what their gamertag(userID) is, and what their latest accomplishments in games are. So why not apply the same concept to Netflix? It would display your recently viewed titles, what you’ve rated them, etc. I think it would be great for finding new things to watch on Netflix if you can see what your friends are watching and how they liked it.

Comic Book Cover

One of my first fun assignments in Photoshop and Illustrator, was to take a drawing, ink it, color it, and turn it into a comic book cover.

Admittedly, I cut corners a little bit. I used the auto-trace in Illustrator to ink it for me as I was short on time and had bigger projects to worry about. But it turned out fine.

Interactivity Matrix

Interactivity was one the more interesting classes in Digital Media Arts.

One the primary focuses was the Interactivity Matrix. This web could applied to any product you could imagine from a movie to a toaster to a smartphone to book. The main point is to get you to think deeply about any product, whether you’re developing it or buying it, what the products end goal is, and if it fulfills that goal.

For our final group project, my group created a pencil add-on for Wacom stylus that would let you physically draw on paper while having those drawing motions captured by the stylus as well. Essentially, you could draw in real world and in the drawing program of your choice at the same time.

Our prototypes were rather crude and not very durable or reusable, but the concept worked. And I think not long after company did start producing something with our same function in mind when before there was nothing like it on the market.
